Insulated bearings
SWC insulated bearing composition
1) Alumina insulation coating and plasma spraying process are used (for specific models and technical parameters, please contact SWC);
2) Hybrid ceramic bearings.
SWC hybrid ceramic ball bearings are composed of rings made of bearing steel and rolling elements made of silicon nitride (Si3N4). In addition to good electrical insulation characteristics, this type of bearing can also run at higher speeds. In most applications, the working life is also longer than traditional steel bearings.
Excellent electrical insulation is one of the basic characteristics of silicon nitride. Using this material as a bearing for rolling elements can prevent the ring from being damaged by current, thus extending the working life of the bearing.
The density of silicon nitride is only 40% of the bearing steel. Because the weight of the rolling element is lighter and the inertia is smaller, the bearing bears less force when the bearing starts and stops quickly. In the case of a longer speed in a polluted environment, it can greatly reduce friction and working life. Less friction means lower working temperature, and the working life of lubricant is longer. Therefore, hybrid ceramic bearings are very suitable for high speed applications.
Even in the case of insufficient lubrication, there is no problem of wear between silicon nitride and steel, so the hybrid ceramic bearing can still run for a long period of time under poor lubrication (K <1). For hybrid ceramic bearings, k = 1 is generally used for actual operation, and k <1 is used to estimate the life of the bearing under working conditions. In some media that only form an extremely thin lubricating film, such as refrigerants, as a lubricant, hybrid ceramic bearings may still exhibit good performance and achieve operation under "oil-free", but must be designed and selected materials very careful. If you need to apply under these conditions, please consult SWC for detailed information about this application.
The hardness and elastic modulus of silicon nitride are higher than ordinary bearing steel, so the bearing has higher rigidity and can have a longer working life in a polluted environment. The thermal expansion rate of silicon nitride is less than that of steel, so the size of the silicon nitride rolling element is less affected by temperature changes, and the preload of the bearing can also be controlled more accurately. Please contact SWC when designing a bearing configuration for extremely low operating temperatures or if you need to estimate the clearance reduction of hybrid ceramic bearings.
Most of the product supply range of SWC hybrid ceramic bearings is single row hybrid ceramic deep ball bearings. The main reason is that deep groove ball bearings have a very wide range of applications, especially in small and medium-sized motors. Sealed bearings can be permanently lubricated, which can simplify the design of bearing configuration. The deep groove-shaped raceway and the high degree of closeness between the raceway and the ball make the deep groove ball bearing can bear radial load and axial load in both directions. The supply range of SWC hybrid ceramic deep groove ball bearings, including bearings with an inner diameter from 5 to 50mm, can meet the needs of a wide range of applications. The need for applications such as power tools.
SWC can provide two designs of hybrid ceramic deep groove ball bearings
1) Sealed bearings
2) Open bearings
