Flexible bearing for SWC robot harmonic reducer
Unlike general bearings, the flexible bearing has a thin outer ring that is easy to develop radial deformation. Therefore, the ring is in round shape before being installed with cam, and in oval shape afterwards. The harmonic drive transmission transmits motions and powers by the controllable elastic deformations. It is featured by high transmission ratio, wide application range, high precision, less backlash, good carrying capacity, high efficiency, small volume, light weight, smooth drive and low noise, and is able to transmit motions to sealed space. The harmonic drive transmission is composed of wave generator, flexible gear, rigid gear and flexible bearing. Thereof, the flexible bearing, as the core component, enables the transmission to meet the performance requirements on high reduction ratio by elastic deformation.
While operating, the inner ring of flexible bearing, installed on the oval rigid gear, bears cyclic stress load, and the outer ring, installed on the flexible gear and changing along with the elastic deformation of flexible gear, bears not only cyclic stress load, but also alternating stress load. Such characteristics set high requirements on the design and manufacturing of the inner ring, outer ring and holder of the bearing and cause only few nations be able to produce such bearing, including Japan and America. In China, the harmonic drive transmission design and manufacturing level of SMC has already ascended to international advanced. A complete theoretical system for the design of flexible bearing has already been formed, and the corresponding manufacturing techniques have been developed and perfected gradually, producing products with better and stable quality. With reliable quality and stable performance, the dedicated bearing for 3E series harmonic drive reducer has already been successfully applied to the harmonic drive/transmission devices of the "Shenzhou spacecraft" series, greatly contributing to the manned spacecraft engineering of China.
